The illustrations are the star of this sweet and heart-rending story. Some will immediately recognise Ering's work from The Tale of Desperaux, or one of his other acclaimed children's books. The same sweeping and soft and expressive images. There's a very moody vibe going on, which I love! The images are evocative, rich, and so compelling. So illustrations-wise this book is👍👍, and the story is just as gorgeous. I'll admit to being quite worried during the first read, but the ending is perfect. #crisisaverted. I think little ones will fall in love with Alfred Fiddleduckling, just as we did! Adorbs.
